Chapel on the Green and Timbercreek Inn- Wedding of Kim + David
A little bit of rain just gave this couple an extra blessing as they prepared to say I do at the Chapel on the Green in Yorkville. It cleared away as they celebrated loving one another and while the groom, now step dad to her two children read a beautiful letter he had written to them. After they celebrated for a time with his family and then headed to Sandwich to the Timbercreek Inn for the next part of the celebration!
Eating, drinking, laughing and dancing the night away with friends and family, is truly the best way to celebrate!
How did you meet?
David and I met online about 15 years ago – before dating websites, but the days of AOL chat rooms. Our first face to face date was at a karaoke bar in Woodridge. David loves to sing, I do not!
How did he propose (you can give is the long version)?
David and I attend Big Life Community Church, where I teach the kids program each week. David invited our close friends and some family to attend church with us that day. As soon as I saw all these people there, I knew something was up! After leading all the kids back into service, Dave whispers, “you need to go sit with Danny” (my best friend.) After the pastor gives the weekly announcements and just before ending the service, he calls David to the front and hands over the mic. David proceeded to tell everyone how 15 years ago he met a girl who he fell in love with, then she left for bigger and better things. This girl came back into his life several years later, but now with a 5 year old daughter. David grew attached, was scared to death by the thoughts of being a father, and ran away from the relationship. David and Kim stayed in touch for many years. This last time I came back into his life, adding a son. David fell in love with all of us all over again. Knowing there was nothing he would like more than to make us his family. David asked me to marry him. And I of course said yes!
What is your favorite memory together, aside from the proposal? Why?
Our favorite memory together is the weekend we spent together at Starved Rock. We rented a room at Landers House (a bed and breakfast in Utica). We walked around downtown Utica, went hiking at Starved rock, and just relaxed together. This is our favorite memory because it was the first time (not including the few months when we first met) we really got to spend some time together without the kids. It was a chance to really connect with each other and enjoy each other’s company.
